Government support for business (24.03.20)
We’ve put together a quick guide to government support – including grants and tax breaks – focused on helping small businesses cope with COVID‑19 disruption.
From the £10,000 grant to devolved nation-specific funds, the guide covers what’s available, who is eligible, and how to access the support. Schemes are being announced and deployed pretty quickly, so our government support page is subject to continual updates.
Working with you in solidarity
During this challenging time we’re focusing on supporting members
We’re engaged in advanced talks with funders to develop specific support for co-ops facing critical challenges. We will share progress on these initiatives in the coming days. If your organisation is facing specific challenges please let us know so we can lobby policy makers and funders – and create the advice and support you need.
If you have created any useful resources/policies or have other examples of good practice (or good news!) let us know so we can share with the wider co-op community. We’re also creating an FAQ document to answer your questions. Send us your questions.
Our advice on holding annual general meetings (AGMs) has been updated after liaising with the Financial Conduct Authority.
The guidance examines alternative approaches to staging an AGM and the measures co-ops should put in place to protect members, while also ensuring good governance and member participation.
Social distancing and school closures are just two of the COVID‑19 impacts on absenteeism from work.
Our HR advice examines how we should protect and treat employees. Our FAQs have been updated to include the most recent Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) and social distancing guidance in relation to the COVID‑19 pandemic.
The Co-operative Bank has issued advice for customers concerned about the financial impact of COVID‑19. Business customers can find information here. Personal banking customers can access advice here.
Travel restriction policy
We’ve created a useful template, based on a letter from our member Open Data Services, for organisations restricting all travel. The editable letter can be used to send to customers, suppliers, partner organisations and more.
Our COVID-19 advice webpages will be regularly reviewed with updates communicated via email as and when appropriate. We will also post new advice links on Twitterand Facebook. For advice enquiries please contact us on email@example.com or call 0161 214 1751.
